a safari company dedicated to providing holidays to Kenya for people
with disabilities.
THE CAMP

At the moment we do not have a lot of mobility friendly awareness, although
Green Leopard is working in conjunction with SATH to promote this in
Kenya. To overcome this, Green Leopard has modified a luxury, mobile,
tented camp, and this works very well. Our campsites are level, and
private. The tents are large and bug proof, with proper beds, and allow
space for two people who use wheelchairs. There is solar powered electric
lighting, your personal steward, and room service available. Bathrooms
are en suite with flush toilets, and the roll-in showers have shower
chairs. A laundry service is included while in camp. There is a mess
tent for meals, and a well stocked bar.
If you use a wheelchair, but don't want to camp in the old fashioned,
traditional, luxurious way, please tell us. We will find a hotel or
lodge that will be closest to your needs, and we will work hard to make
your stay there as comfortable as possible, providing our own temporary
modifications to make things as easy as possible for you.
VEHICLES
Green Leopard has three vehicles it
intends to use for safari purposes. One is a safari modified Toyota
Land Cruiser, with three roof hatches, winch, and differential locks.
This is the standard safari vehicle used here in Kenya.
The other two are ex-ambulance Ford
Ivecos from the UK. These have double rear doors with electric wheelchair
lifts to facilitate easy access for people using wheelchairs. These
specially adapted vehicles offer a comfortable ride. If you use a wheelchair,
the adaptable seating layout offers you the option of

traveling in you chair, or transferring
into a vehicle seat. We supply full safety equipment for tie downs,
and passenger seat belts adapted for wheelchair use during your journey. They
have high roofs, and this also allow our safari nurse to act as a steward
during game drives.
We feel this to be a good balance right
now, and will allow us flexibility when dealing with guests with differing
needs.
